Website design and development for Yahoo Games

Clay partnered with Yahoo’s internal Games team to design and develop a new portal for Yahoo! Games. The experience builds on the existing Yahoo brand while introducing a more playful, content-rich interface for discovering and playing games.

Challenge

Yahoo Games needed a modern portal that could make game discovery easier and more engaging for users. The experience also had to support a wide range of content while feeling distinct, intuitive, and consistent with the broader Yahoo ecosystem.

Solution

Clay created multiple discovery paths, clearer navigation, dynamic category hubs, and features like random game selection to encourage exploration. The team also delivered custom illustrations, motion, front-end development, and ongoing support to shape a more interactive platform.

Results

The new portal makes browsing and exploring games more seamless across devices, with responsive layouts and smoother content discovery. The partnership also continued beyond launch with new features and enhancements to keep improving the experience.

Discovery Experience

Multiple entry points, category hubs, and a random game feature help users find content more naturally.

Engagement Features

Badges, streaks, and a rewards system were introduced to encourage repeat play and build friendly competition.

Clay was communicative, efficient, and receptive to feedback as we iterated on the design for Yahoo Games. They played a key role in exploring options and ultimately establishing a distinct tone for the platform. Beyond exploratory support, Clay also excels at executing specific feature design requests—such as Badges and Streaks—efficiently and on time.
