California YIMBY is the nonprofit policy organization that's driving the legislative strategies to solve California's housing affordability and inventory crisis. Yet, California YIMBY mostly worked behind the scenes in the halls of the Sacramento Capitol Building and had not received profile coverage.
After a streak of legislative victories, it was time for the nonprofit to generate news about the organization itself, in preparation for new fundraising to support their next chapter of advocacy.
We expanded the conversation about their nonprofit work beyond policy circles. Through our partnership, we: Developed a press office strategy and communications plan that focused on landing Tier 1, agenda-setting news coverage; Built a formal executive visibility program for the CEO that helped set the stage for the next level of fundraising and growth for the non-profit organization; Uplevelled their digital presence, particularly SEO and GEO results and by establishing a branded Wikipedia page.
