Why Brands Need a Production Partner That Handles Concept Development, Creative Ideation, and End-to-End Production Under One Roof
One of the main questions we get asked when a brand first reaches out is whether we are a one-stop shop that handles every phase of the video production process. Why? Because the modern advertising landscape demands it.
Old vs. New
The old model worked like this: hire a creative agency to come up with ideas for a campaign, hand that approved direction over to a production company to execute, and then push it through a post-production partner to finalize the delivery.
Sure, this model may have worked years ago in a pre-social and internet first world but these days brands need more campaigns, volumes of content, formatted across several channels, and faster turnarounds.
One Creative + Production House
Brands want efficiency: one main communication channel through one main partner; this removes extra layers of communication, cuts out the unnecessary fat and reduces margins for error.
How? Because when your ideation partner and your production partner live under the same roof they are the one central command center: the brains behind the ad, the commercial concept, the visionary behind the campaign, and the creator of the IP and they take ownership over their creation and see it through from idea to reality.
When your video production partner provides the same level of thinking and service a creative agency does, that production partner sits in every meeting and remembers every conversation from that first day the brand marketing director reached out and discussed their overall goal, objectives, target audience, product details, what is important to them and what is not. It’s very hard to keep all of those details intact when it goes through multiple vendors.
Do you know how many problems occur on a production day that require quick thinking, problem-solving, or revisiting communication channels to ensure not only the direction is coming through but the brand is showcased in the best light possible.
Certain brands require a production partner to follow strict guidelines - every prop should be aligned with brand colors and every product needs to be studied, understood, and clear with how it’s demonstrated. Conversations about the audience, what has worked, what has not worked all are taken into consideration.
When one partner handles all these conversations, it is streamlined in one clear communication channel to every department head who goes out and executes the actual production so on that day of production the director can communicate a note because he was in that boardroom.
Brands Buy Great Ideas & Great Thinking
Brands are always looking for their next big campaign, the next mix of fresh media assets, the next idea and what I have found is that brands invest heavily into good creative. When the brand sees a fully fledged concept, pitch or campaign on a deck that wows them, it’s something that can excite them and stir up some feelings within.
That’s why if you’re a great production company that understands how to develop and pitch good idea, it’s a high value offer. At the end of the day, Brands Buy Creative Thinking. If you nail the concept, idea and direction everything else takes a back seat.
Of course your portfolio matters, of course your production approach matters, and your expertise but if you can communicate a very creative idea for a campaign or commercial that is different and makes the brand stand out, many of those other arbitrary pre-requisites will generally take a backseat.
Because you’ve shown the brand a different way of thinking, a more creative approach that no one has thought about, and a vision that is easy for executives to invest in. That is an incredible advantage and unique offering. Everyone could produce, little can actually think differently and deeply.
The Feel Right Inc. Process
At Feel Right Inc., we begin with ideation. Pairing you with a Creative Director that will perfectly match your brand. The brand should come to us with either a brief, their goals, some references, a basic breakdown of their needs, product details, and general info that can help us start our development. From their we begin brainstorming, ideation, and a proposal of different concepts, production approaches, and creative directions.
I like to look at things at a high level and see what the brand will actually benefit from because while we make higher production value assets, we need to think logically about the brand’s actual landscape. Do they have organic content in the form of reels? UGC? There might be a very strong play to collaborate with certain creators or brand integrations with certain TV Shows or Celebrities. We like to think of every angle that will get the brand higher attribution, more awareness and ultimately more sales.
Once the brand aligns with one of our directions, we begin building out an actual timeline to produce all the assets from A-Z. This will include scheduling production dates, casting, outreach to collaborators, location sourcing, inbound and outbound planning of products (especially the bigger products like furniture), putting together our crew, designing the art direction, props, set design, shotlisting, storyboarding, meeting with client to ensure every aspect of the plan is being communicated, reviewed and approved. Then when production days are finally here we work efficiently and effectively to ensure everything runs smoothly.
After that we being our post-production process and deliver all assets to the client. If you're in need of a great production partner make sure to review our work and learn more about Feel Right Inc. at www.feelrightinc.com
