Rent From Locals set out to reshape the car rental landscape by bypassing traditional large agencies and connecting individuals directly with local car rental companies and private car owners. The goal was to foster a personal, community-oriented experience while strengthening local economies. Roobykon Software delivered a complete custom marketplace development solution, overcoming critical environment inconsistencies and deep-seated code fragility to build a robust peer-to-peer car rental platform.

Challenge

Two critical technical hurdles: (1) Unreliable testing due to mismatched environments, and (2) a rigid codebase that was hard to extend or maintain.

Solution

Roobykon executed a full Sharetribe customization and marketplace platform modernization. We refactored hardcoded IDs into dynamic, database-driven queries and reconfigured staging infrastructure for consistency. On Sharetribe, we built custom features: availability grid, date-blocking API, duplicate listings, and multilingual support. Integrated Google Maps, Stripe, and AWS for scalability. Delivered MVP in 10 weeks with weekly agile iterations and full handover.
