Rosella Street is an innovative environmentally-driven sharing marketplace dedicated to reducing landfill waste and promoting a circular economy. Roobykon Software took over this sustainable marketplace project from another development team, executing a complete marketplace takeover and legacy codebase modernization. Within a structured 6-phase process, we refactored fragile code, integrated complex features, and implemented a full redesign. The result is a robust, scalable, and user-friendly peer-to-peer marketplace that continues to allocate 1% of every sale to community and environmental initiatives.
Challenge
When Roobykon took over Rosella Street, the project faced three critical challenges common in custom marketplace development: a legacy codebase, compatibility issues, and the need to scale performance.

Our team executed a 6-phase process: audit, feature refactoring, rigorous QA, client verification, pre-deployment testing, and live monitoring. Key Sharetribe customization and multi-vendor marketplace solutions included space-type listings with timezone-aware availability, rich text with emoji/links, business accounts with a step-by-step wizard, daily/weekly newsletters via Sendgrid, and a full redesign based on customer designs. The tech stack leveraged AWS EC2/RDS/S3, Stripe Connect, Mapbox, Twilio, and social authentication.
