Scalable eCommerce platform development for multi-market retail

UKAD supported Focus Nordic in developing and scaling a high-load eCommerce platform operating across multiple European markets. The goal was to build a flexible, scalable solution capable of handling localized websites, complex product structures, and high traffic volumes. We designed a microservices-based architecture using .NET and Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), enabling independent scaling of core services and ensuring high availability under peak loads. This improved overall system performance, flexibility, and deployment efficiency. On the frontend, we implemented React with server-side rendering (SSR) to enhance page load speed, SEO performance, and user experience across content-heavy pages. GraphQL was introduced to streamline data exchange between frontend and backend systems. We also implemented Umbraco CMS, providing a user-friendly content management experience and enabling efficient multi-market content operations without technical dependencies.
