I started my career at an agency, where I learned the value of working with diverse clients and industries. I then went in-house at a software engineering firm, where I built and led the marketing team over five years. Along the way, I also began consulting with tech startups—and found it incredibly rewarding and energizing. I realized my passion was helping leaders with great products and services channel their story and vision into successful growth. That’s what led me to start my own agency—so I could partner with driven teams to turn their ideas into results.
I feel most energized when I’m helping a team uncover the clarity they’ve been missing—whether that’s nailing their positioning, finding the right growth strategy, or turning a complex idea into a story that clicks with their audience. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing that “lightbulb moment” when the pieces fall into place and momentum starts to build.
Early on, I learned that the best results come from the right fit—on both sides. Not every client will be the perfect partner, and that’s okay. Realizing that is important, because if the fit isn't there, nobody is going to be happy. Success is much more likely when there’s alignment in values, vision, and ways of working. I’ve found that when leaders truly believe in their mission and are committed to it, the collaboration is not only more productive but far more rewarding for everyone involved.
stick to a pretty consistent exercise routine at a local group fitness gym, and I love the sense of community there. Staying active helps me think more clearly and show up better in every area of life. I also like reading, golfing, and hiking. It's important to get away from the computer and into a different headspace.
Right now, success means partnering with innovative clients who are doing work I genuinely believe in. As a marketer, I think it’s essential to stand behind what you’re promoting. Lately, we’ve been collaborating with some incredible partners in the AI space, and it’s been deeply rewarding to see how our work together is helping them grow and succeed.
I’m betting on AI (as most are) but not in the “throw it at everything” way we’ve seen lately. The organizations and marketers that win will be the ones who embrace AI strategically: knowing the problems they’re solving, aligning teams around a clear direction, and applying AI where it truly creates leverage. The real opportunity is in using it to reduce friction, amplify human capability, and move faster with confidence. You’ll always need great people. AI is simply a powerful tool to empower them.
Know you're niche, and own it. There is a lot of competition and a lot of generalists. Specialization is important.
The ONE Thing is a great book about focus and priority, which is a useful skill when you wear multiple hats. I'll also give an honorable mention to Exit Five - a community for B2B Marketers - that I find is a valuable resource for ideas and connecting with peers.
